WebDesk-NT 2.0 [alpha] Installation Instructions: WebDesk-NT has been successfully tested on Windows NT 4.0 Workstation running MicroSoft Peer Web Services. As such, WebDesk-NT *must* be installed in \InetPub Unzip the distribution into the \InetPub directory and preserve the directory structure contained in the zip file. For example: C:\INETPUB> pkunzip -d webdeskNT-2.0a.zip This will install all of the necessary HTML and CGI executables. Next, run the "Internet Service Manager" from the "Microsoft Peer Web Services" start menu. Make certain a http server is running on your machine. Highlight the "WWW" service and click on "Properties->Service Properties". In the Password Authentication Box, turn off "Allow Anonymous" and turn on "Basic (Clear Text)". Click on the "Directories" tab and select "Add". Two virtual directory aliases need to be added, both with read and execute access. C:\InetPub\scripts\webdesk\admin with a virtual directory of /cgi-bin/webdesk/admin C:\InetPub\scripts\webdesk\user with a virtual directory of /cgi-bin/webdesk/user Finally, create a user account "admin" from the Windows NT User Manager and select a password. This will be the account used to administer WebDesk-NT. In order to process incoming requests, the NT machine must take email destined for "webdesk@machine.name" and pipe in into stdin of \InetPub\scripts\webdesk\admin\wdfilter.exe This can be done with many software packages. We are using MetaInfo's NT sendmail available at: http://www.metainfo.com 206-674-3700. Our alias list for WebDesk includes the following entry: webdesk: |"c:\\inetpub\scripts\\webdesk\\admin\\wdfilter.exe" The alias file will need to be reloaded to make the alias active. To test the alias: [www@ralph logs]$ telnet moschino 25 Trying 10.69.69.101... Connected to moschino.grdata.com.
